Facilitation & Community Engagement

My work is grounded in the belief that knowledge is created through relationships, dialogue, and collective action. Beyond my research, I am actively engaged in facilitation, community-based initiatives, and collaborative learning environments that bring together students, educators, community organizations, and practitioners.

Drawing on my background in adult education, community development, food systems, and public service, I design and facilitate learning experiences that encourage participation, critical reflection, and meaningful engagement. My approach is informed by principles of community accountability, reciprocity, and learner-centred practice, with a commitment to creating inclusive spaces where diverse forms of knowledge and experience are valued.

Areas of Facilitation

I have facilitated and contributed to a range of educational and community-based initiatives, including:

  • Conference presentations and panel discussions
  • Adult and lifelong learning workshops (community based, post secondary, and public service environments)
  • Food justice and food sovereignty discussions
  • Community food systems and collective foodwork initiatives
  • Student leadership and peer learning programs
  • Academic skills and writing support workshops
  • Community engagement and dialogue sessions
  • Research knowledge mobilization activities

How we can work together

Grant Writing and Funding

Securing funding requires more than completing an application—it requires translating community priorities into compelling and achievable projects. I support organizations in identifying funding opportunities, developing project concepts, strengthening funding proposals, and articulating measurable outcomes that align with funder priorities while remaining rooted in community goals.

My experience includes successful grant writing and funding development for community-based initiatives, food systems projects, student-led organizations, social enterprises, and educational programs. I can provide support at any stage of the process, from project design and proposal development to review and editing.

Workshops

I design and facilitate engaging workshops that support learning, dialogue, and collective problem-solving. Drawing on my background in adult education, community development, Indigenous education, and food systems, I work with organizations, community groups, educational institutions, and leadership teams to create learning experiences that are participatory, accessible, and grounded in community needs.

Workshop topics may include community development, food sovereignty, governance, strategic planning, grant readiness, adult learning, facilitation skills, Indigenous perspectives, and organizational capacity building.

Community Planning & Engagement

Strong organizations are built on clear goals, meaningful engagement, and practical action plans. I work with organizations, community groups, and leadership teams to facilitate strategic planning processes that identify priorities, strengthen organizational capacity, and support long-term sustainability.

My approach emphasizes community engagement, collaborative decision-making, and the integration of diverse perspectives. Whether developing a new initiative, refining an existing program, or exploring future directions, I help organizations move from ideas to actionable plans that reflect their values, strengths, and aspirations.
